Home tour: A house like a haven of peace in the heart of the 9th arrondissement

It's hard to believe you're in the heart of the lively 9th arrondissement in this place of character as it exudes serenity. Renovated by interior designers Julie & Capucine from Bobo Design Studio, this unique property is now for sale with our agency Junot Saint-Georges .

What immediately attracted you to this project?

Capucine: When we were commissioned to renovate this duplex, the challenge was for us to transform this very rectangular place with no particular soul into a small house full of charm.

The property being located at the back of a courtyard, with a small green and bucolic terrace, we immediately saw the potential!

From the start, we brought together the original duplex and two additional rooms which served as storage rooms or garages to make it a much larger and more harmonious place.

How did you reorganized the space?

Julie: The apartment is made up of two rectangular floors and lacked light. From the start, we took the gamble of breaking everything down and splitting the spaces into two: on the ground floor, a living room with kitchen and dining room, opening onto a very pleasant terrace, as well as a bedroom and a large room that can be treated as desired, such as a second bedroom, a games room, a TV room, etc.

On the first floor, a living room with office space and a master bedroom with dressing room and bathroom. Everything has been tailor-made.

In these spaces, we brought a lot of light by creating numerous openings: bay windows and glass roofs which overlook either the garden or the sky.

How did you come up with the decor?

Julie: The main idea of our work was to bring light, roundness and warmth into these spaces which are quite rectangular.

For the colors, we wanted to bring something alive with green to recall nature and the surrounding trees, numerous natural woods but also rust to warm up. The works of art are also there to remind us of the diversity of the fauna and flora.

What's your favorite element?

Capucine: Without a doubt this magnificent piece by Valentin Loellmann, a German artist who made it custom-made.

It surrounds the staircase which leads to the first floor and serves as both a dining room table and bench on one side, then a bar and kitchen on the other.

The process was long but worth it: it was necessary to adapt to the walls, dig into the wood material and adapt to the hazards.

Ultimately, it is more than an element of furniture, it is a true work of art which brings all its character to this room. We are fans of it!

The big asset is also its green terrace, as soon as the weather is nice, you can live in this duplex with all the bay windows open for daily indoor outdoor living, lunch outside, invite friends and family... It's unique in Paris!

Tell us about the neighborhood...

Julie: Here, we are a stone's throw from rue des Martyrs, the living and dynamic heart of the 9th arrondissement. It is a very sought after neighborhood because it is trendy and cosmopolitan. What is unique about this property is that we access this street very quickly, and yet we are completely quiet.
